On The Road To Victory (with pastries!)

It’s that time of year again… across the city, folks are dusting off their green jerseys, organizing their fantasy lineups and making plans for every game day. I’m talking about football season, of course– and here at Bloomsday and Loretta’s, we’re in the thick of it. 

Four years ago, Eagles food and beverage director Eric Montijo got in touch with chef/owner Kelsey Bush and asked if we would be interested in providing pastries for home games. Louder than a crowd can chant E–A-G-L-E-S, we said H-E-L-L-Y-E-S. We’re all Eagles fans of course, and we would do anything to give our team a little tush push on the road to victory.

And just like that, Bloomsday and Loretta’s have supplied a spread of our famous pastries to the Eagles for every home game since. Our intrepid bakers roll into the bakery at 2am to start this special bake, and owners Kelsey Bush and Zach Morris often deliver the pastries to the stadiums personally. Just like the Birds, we know how to hustle here. 

Community is everything to us, so to be able to provide the players and staff of the Eagles with a little something sweet before they put in a hard day’s work on the field feels great. We’re a city connected by the insane, rabid love of our team, and it’s fun for everyone when the city is happy. We take the responsibility of brightening the Eagles’ day very seriously– after all, who’s to say that those impossibly flaky laminated pastries didn’t have at least a little hand in the Bird’s defeat of the Washington Commanders on Sunday? Surely the green frosted poptarts with football-shaped sprinkles helped.

So if you need any of our pastry staff in the next few weeks, just know that they are resting up for the three home games in October. And somebody put us in touch with the Phillies, it looks like they could use our help too.
